Former Migori County Deputy Governor Nelson Mahanga Mwita has died, the family has announced.
According to the family, the first Migori County Deputy Governor died while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital.
Incumbent Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko mourned Mwita's death, condoling with the family and friends of the deceased.
"With a heavy heart, I send my sincere condolences to family, friends, relatives, the entire citizenry of Migori County and Kenya at large for the unfortunate demise of our first Deputy Governor Hon. Nelson Mahanga Mwita," he wrote.
"Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. My deepest empathy."
Mwita served as Migori County's DG for two terms from 2013 to 2022 under ex-Governor Okoth Obado.
