Police in Baringo County have recovered four illegally held rifles that were voluntarily surrendered in Orus Location, Tiaty East Sub-County.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), the firearms were handed in on Saturday alongside four magazines and eight rounds of ammunition.

NPS said that the recovered weapons have been secured and held pending further action.

This comes amid a government-led peace and disarmament mission in the region to restore calm.

NPS reports that a total of 396 illegal firearms and 1,503 rounds of ammunition have so far been surrendered through collaborative security operations.

The NPS commended the local leaders and community’s cooperation, noting that voluntary disarmament remains crucial to restoring peace and stability in the region.
