Four suspects linked to the murder of 24-year-old Keagan Githua have been arrested.

Keagan, who had recently graduated from Strathmore University with a degree in Information Technology, was stabbed to death on October 30, by robbers on a motorcycle in Ridgeways, Kiambu county.

The family reports that he was accosted while on his way to his uncle's place within the estate before the criminals stabbed him in his chest and made away with his mobile phone and laptop.

According to a statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), an operation was launched Tuesday morning after detectives learnt that the suspects operate within the Githurai area.

DCI says that during the arrest, Keagan's stolen phone was also recovered.

"The detectives based at DCI-Starehe mounted a dawn operation that began at a city toilet along River Road, where they pounced on the first suspect before heading to Githurai, where the rest were arrested and the deceased’s smartphone recovered," wrote DCI on Twitter.

Preliminary reports further revealed that the criminals were so daring that they went about using the deceased's phone after stabbing him.

Police based at Muthaiga police station, where the incident was first reported, called Keagan's phone after the case was reported.

"When one of the police officers was given Keagan's number they picked up the phone and one of the suspects said 'Yes ni sisi, mtadu?'" said Bob Karina in a past interview.

Police then trailed the phone to hunt down the miscreants.

Meanwhile, further probe is ongoing to arrest more members of the gang.
