February 23: Kenya Power Company had announced interruption in electricity supply across the country saying the interruption was to allow for maintenance, upgrade of power lines to the network, connection of new customers and replacement of power lines.

2. Matiang’i: This is what happens after Huduma Namba registration expires on Saturday

May 13: Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i announced that the government would not extend the deadline for the Huduma Namba mass registration exercise. According to him, 31 million Kenyans had registered on the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS).

A confrontation ensued but after two female MPs intervened, Akothee agreed to cover the skirt with a leso.

7. Albert Mwangi kills wife, poisons self to death, shocking suicide note left behind

Albert Mwangi, who was in his 50s, struck his wife to death with a blunt object before ingesting a poisonous substance and hanging himself at their home in Kiambu following an alleged prolonged domestic dispute. In a suicide note addressed to his four children, Albert painted an image of a sour and rocky marriage with his wife Milcah Mwangi, a businesswoman who was in her late 40s.

8. Top political show host Hussein Mohamed ends grand stint at Citizen TV

On October 4, the top TV show host announced that he would be leaving Citizen TV after a 10-year stint. He had been hosting the News Night show every Tuesday. “I have decided to take a break after October In Sha Allah to concentrate on other matters. Loved the fans, the critics and everything in between. See you soon,” he said.

9. No e-passport, no visa: Foreign Affairs ministry says

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that machine-readable passports would expire on August 31, 2019. However, the order was rescinded after it caused a scramble and last-minute rush for the new e-passports ahead of the deadline. President Uhuru Kenyatta then extended the deadline for application of the new e-passport to March 1, 2020 for all Kenyans.

Government Spokesperson Rtd. Col. Cyrus Oguna revealed that those who may have accidentally given wrong information would be contacted when the mass registration deadline closes. “So you may have registered, yes, but in the process of cleaning data, then you’re found to have either given the wrong I.D. number or the wrong number of your birth certificate, then they will register afresh.”
