From dolls, bread to towels: Kenyans pull dramatic stunts during General Election (PHOTOS)
The ongoing 2022 General Election has had its share of
‘Githeri moments’, just like that witnessed in the 2017 polls when Martin
Kamotho lined up to vote armed with maize and beans meal (Githeri).
The act would then win Kamotho the name Githeri man,
gifts, trip to Mombasa and a Head of State Commendation from President Uhuru
Kenyatta.
In a bid to outshine Githeri man, a number of Kenyans turned
up for the 2022 Elections, pulling dramatic stunts to differentiate them from
the other voters at polling stations.
At Kisumu Central polling station, a man showed up to
the polling station with a towel over his waist, a tooth brush on his mouth and
was bare chested.
According to the man, he was at the bathroom when his friend called him, asking him to go to vote. He figured dressing up would be a waste of time.
At another polling station, a woman was caught
carrying a teddy bear, in order to give an impression that she was having a
baby.
Unfortunately, the woman’s plan to be given priority to vote since she was carrying a 'baby' hit the rock after officers opened her leso, only to find a cuddled-up teddy bear.
Elsewhere, another man was spotted queuing at a polling station with an old-looking kettle and another was eating a loaf of bread awaiting his chance to cast the vote.
Sensational comedian Arap Marindich also showed up at a polling station with his 'rally driver' gear and a dusty face as seen in his memes.
Gospel singer Ringtone Apoko – in his usual character of pulling dramatic stunts- walked into Milimani Primary School polling Centre with a bible to read as he awaits voting.
The chilly morning also saw business people
camping at polling stations with snacks, porridge and tea to keep the voters
warm.
