Garissa family demands answers from police after son's abduction

The abductors jumped over a barbed-wire fence and gained entry before disappearing with Mohammed in a Land Cruiser. 

This comes just a day after Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen said security officers in the country are on high alert following recent attacks orchestrated by militants.

The uncertainty of his disappearance has left them in deep anguish, struggling to cope with the fear of the unknown.

“Jamaa hata hakuwa Garissa siku nyingi. Alikaa hapa siku nne akiwa mfugaji, amekuja akiwa mgonjwa. Kikosi cha serikali kinakuja, kikamchukua na hadi sahii hatujui ako wapi, amefanya makosa gani," Sadik Aden, relative stated. 

“Amesema hakuna abduction. Watuletee mtu wetu. Kama amefanya makosa, wampeleke kortini basi," Feisal Ismail added, neighbor added. 

They claimed that men who introduced themselves as police officers attempted to forcefully gain access through the front door.

After they failed, they jumped over a barbed-wire fence, entered the house, and took Mohammed Nur, disappearing with him in a Toyota Land Cruiser.

This comes a day after CS Murkomen announced that security apparatus in the country are on high alert following recent attacks by militants in northern Kenya and Lamu County.

The family is now demanding that security agencies produce their kin. Human rights defenders in Garissa have condemned the incident, saying the rise of such incidents is concerning despite the government’s stated commitment to end enforced disappearances.
