Garissa MCAs defend IEBC boss

Thirty Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Garissa County have come out to strongly defend the IEBC Chairman Isaac Hassan over allegations of corruption in the commission.

Led by minority leader Nassir Mohammed, the MCAs said that they would not hesitate to defend their ‘own’ from leaders who are seeking to gain political mileage.

This comes days after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga called for the prosecution of the defunct IIEC officials mentioned in corruption allegations by UK firm Smith & Ouzman.

Among those mentioned was former IIEC boss Isaac Hassan.

Raila’s outburst came barely days after he met with the IEBC chair over the controversial launch of the elections strategic plan.
