Gideon Moi withdraws from EALA MP race

Gideon Moi had been nominated by his party to the EALA position

Former Baringo Senator and KANU Party Chairman Gideon Moi has withdrawn his candidature in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP contest.

A statement issued by KANU Secretary Political Affairs Fredrick Okango said Moi quit the race to allow other contenders an opportunity to win the positions.

"Moi has since withdrawn his candidature so as to give the opportunity to the other candidates. He wishes them the best of luck in their endeavours," read part of the statement.

The KANU boss had been nominated by his party to the EALA position alongside its Secretary General Nick Salat.

He further thanked his party and the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition for the "opportunity and trust".

Meanwhile, the ODM party has unveiled its list of nominees for the positions including Raila Odinga's daughter Winnie Odinga.

The Kenya Kwanza coalition has likewise presented a 15-member nominee list to represent them in the Assembly.
