A group of goons on Friday raided the General Service Unit (GSU) camp at Angata Barrikoi, Narok days after Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja had ordered the personnel to leave the camp.

According to a police report, the goons, who hail from Gwetembe Kuria East Ntimaru Subcounty in Migori County, destroyed the building structures and took all the iron sheets, water tanks, timber, parts of unit hat and other valuables left behind.

The incident occurred hours after the GSU officers had left the camp in the middle of the night.

Following the raid, the OCS Angata Barrikoi and his team visited the scene.

On April 29, 2025, IG Kanja visited Angata Barikkoi following the violent clashes that left five civilians dead and several officers injured.

Kanja pointed out that better coordination and community engagement are needed to avert such incidents in the future.

He ordered the entire personnel to leave the camp and directed the posting of a new team of DCI and GSU officers to oversee security in the area.

"DCI, you must recall the DCIO here and post a new one that will work with the people," he said.
