Government says drought mitigation plan is already in place
The National Treasury has set aside five billion shillings to mitigate effects of drought across the country. Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge told the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture that the funds will be used to procure food and distribute it to the 23 most affected counties. But as Victor Kenani now reports, leaders from the affected regions dismissed the government’s statement saying the impact of the said allotted funds is yet to be felt on the ground where many families are in need of urgent food supplies.
