Governor accuses Ngilu of causing chaos during burial of ex-Mayor

Kitui Governor, Julius Malombe, has accused former Lands Cabinet Secretary, Charity Ngilu, and Kitui Senator, David Musila, of hiring goons to cause chaos and eject him from the funeral of a former Kitui Mayor, Martha Mwangangi on Friday last week.

Speaking in Mwingi North Constituency, Malombe denied involvement in the death of the former Mayor condemning Ngilu and Musila, who are eyeing his seat in 2017 General Election, for politicizing the death to gain political mileage.

Malombe clarified that the former Mayor was hit and run over by a county fire engine whose driver was trying to escape from a rowdy mob trying to set it on fire, further, urging Ngilu and Musila to stop preying on the unfortunate incident.

“Ms Mwangangi’s death was a pure accident since the driver was escaping from the rowdy mob at Kalundu Market who had broken the fire engine’s windscreen and were in the process of setting it on fire,” said Governor Malombe.

Malombe advised Ngilu to focus on clearing her name from corruption allegations that forced President Uhuru Kenyatta to push her out of his Cabinet instead of ‘wasting time maligning the name of a hard-working governor.’

The governor absolved the family of the Late Mwangangi from the ugly scenarios that ensued the burial, instead blaming Ngilu and Musila for orchestrating the chaos, further condemning the duo of introducing politics of ‘thuggery’ in Kitui.

“Musila is an elder and senior politician and should practice mature politics and retire honourably when his time comes, lest he gets ‘retired complulsorily’ by Kitui residents,” added Malombe.
