Leaders from Uasin Gishu County on Saturday held a meeting to seek solutions  to controversial Finland and Canada scholarship row.

The meeting led by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, his deputy John Barorot and Senators Jackson Mandago and Margaret Kamar was also attended by MPs Janet Busienei (Turbo) Samwel Chepkonga (Ainabkoi) and a section of MCAs.

An insider confided to Citizen Digital that the meeting was set to iron out the recent differences between Governor Bii and Senator Mandago and to find solutions to the challenge of the scholarship program.

The two have accused each other of being responsible for the standstill witnessed in the county.

The controversy has seen affected parents and students issue ultimatum to be refunded their funds or they will stop the upcoming devolution conference to be held in Eldoret.

After the Saturday meeting, Soy MP David Kiplagat met a section of residents in town, accusing the county government of mismanaging parent's money meant for their children's education abroad.

“It is not easy for a parent to raise Ksh.1 million. Then the county government says it was a private affair?” Kiplagat posed.

He called on the county leadership to stop politicising the issue and find ways of assisting affected parents and students.
