Governor Bii sends chief officers on leave in re-organization strategy

Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii has reorganized his government, sending one County Executive Committee (CEC) member, 7 Chief Officers and  his Chief of Staff on one month compulsory leave.

In a notice to the media, Governor Bii retained 6 of his CECs in their current portfolios, making 3 changes. Dr. Janet Kosgei of Lands and Physical Planning, who was arrested in December 2024 for allegedly receiving bribes at the county headquarters was sent on compulsory leave.

The county chief noted that he made the changes having reviewed the half year performance and the need to undertake thorough staff appraisal to enhance quality service the changes were necessary.

The following chief officers have been sent on compulsory leave -: Mary Kerich (Environment, Energy and Climate Change), Abraham Kiptalam Bureti (Roads, Transport and Public Works), Felix Kimaru (ICT, Government and Innovation), Marion Birgen (Education and Vocational Training), Nixon Cheplong (Livestock and Fisheries) and Nahum Jelagat Tirop (Public Service Management).

Bii appointed Micah Kipkosgei Rogony acting CEC devolution and administration, Nathan Korir acting chief officer trade, investment, industrialization and tourism as Mark Some takes CO youth and sports position on acting capacity.

Ruth Samoei will be the acting Chief Officer Cooperatives and Enterprise Development,  Geofrey Kirwa Tanui for Lands and Physical Planning and Elphas Kesio for Livestock and Fisheries.

He has also appointed Johnstone Kotut as his economic advisor and Pius Kiplimo Chumba take the  chief of staff position replacing Nicholas Chepkwony.
