Governor Kibwana threatens to sue gov’t, Kenya Pipeline at international court

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has now threatened to sue the government as well as the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Hague, Netherlands, over two oil spillages the county.

Governor Kibwana spoke on Tuesday at Kiboko where an oil spillage occurred about a month ago, on the backdrop of an earlier spill at Thange village.

The Makueni county chief cited frustrations by the former KPC leadership in compensating victims of the Thange as well as Kiboko incidences.

The Water Resources Authority has since issued a warning to residents against using water from Kiboko river following the spillage.
