Usawa kwa Wote party leader and presidential flagbearer Mwangi Wa Iria has settled on Alfayo Onyambu as his running mate ahead of the upcoming August General elections.

The Murang’a Governor made the announcement just two days before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) deadline set for May 16, 2022.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, Governor Wa Iria introduced the relatively little-known politician who hails from Kisii to his supporters.

“This morning on behalf of my USAWA Party, I have nominated Hon. Alfayo Onyambu to be my running mate for the August 9, General Election to back up my presidential bid. Hon. Onyambu, a politician who hails from Kisii County will be on my joint presidential ticket,” said the Murang’a County boss.

“At Usawa party we are fighting for a better, fairer and brighter future for every Kenyan rolling up our sleeves empowering grassroot voters, and organizing everywhere to build a winning team.”

Mr. Onyambu in 2017 unsuccessfully vied for Kisii County’s senatorial seat under a Jubilee ticket, but lost out to Prof. Sam Ongeri.
