Governor Obado’s life at Industrial Area prison

Migori Governor Okoth Obado on Saturday spent his fifth night at the Industrial Area Remand Prison, where he was detained after a Nairobi court denied him bail in a case where he is charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

But if you thought Obado is going through hell like ordinary murder suspects, you may be mistaken.

Reliable sources told Citizen TV that Governor Obado is being treated with dignity and given very good food.

According to the sources, the Migori Governor is in a comfortable VIP and dignitaries wing of the prison, where he is sharing a room with two other murder suspects.

In their cell is a triple decker bed and he has a regular supply of clean blankets and mattresses. His food is brought in from outside the remand prison.

Contrary to many pictures doing the rounds on the internet, Governor Obado is said to be wearing his own clothes and not prison uniforms, and he is allowed several guests, including Migori County officials who visit him at Industrial area prison.

Prison sources confirmed that because he is such a high profile suspect, there is an officer of the rank of sergeant tasked to attend to Obado constantly.

The Migori governor is waiting for his bail ruling which is expected on October 8, 2018, meaning he still has at least eight more days behind bars.
