Governor Waititu under fire after soon-to-be in law is shortlisted for top county job

Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu has come under heavy criticism after his soon-to-be in law was reportedly shortlisted for a top county job.

Herman Gitau Nyotu, in a notice seen by Citizen Digital, was named among 5 individuals shortlisted for the position of Chairperson, Kiambu County Public Service Board (CPSB).

According to a section Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) who spoke on condition of anonymity, the shortlist was submitted to the Clerk on Monday for tabling on Tuesday.

However, the MCAs added, word soon went round that Mr. Nyotu’s son is set to marry Governor Waititu’s daughter this weekend, sparking murmurs of disapproval from their colleagues.

The sources further added that when the list was finally read out in the County Assembly on Wednesday, Mr. Nyotu’s name was conspicuously missing.

This was attributed to the murmurs generated by the reports of the impending nuptials.

Mr. Nyotu’s son, Dr. Nyotu Gitau, is set to marry Governor Waititu’s daughter, Dr. Njeri Ndungu, on Saturday July 20, 2019.

According to an invite in Citizen Digital’s possession, the wedding is set to take place at the PCEA Evergreen in Runda, with the reception later scheduled for the Windsor Country Club.

The Kiambu county chief is however yet to officially speak out on the matter.
