Gov’t Announces Staff Rationalization Exercise

Thousands of public officers in national and county governments could be laid off by April next year in an exercise aimed at weeding out excess and incompetent workers. The retrenchment will be part of a rationalization process to enhance efficiency in public institutions that will also include a biometric audit of all public officers to identify ghost workers. And as Francis Gachuri reports, stakeholders have been brought on board to insulate the exercise from resistance and politicization.
