Gov’t begins vetting of all private security firms

The government has began fresh vetting and licensing of all private security providers in the country.

The Interior Ministry, in a press statement issued on Monday, said firms that will undergo fresh vetting will have their licenses renewed.

The vetting exercise is set to take three months until March 31, 2020.

“Only private security providers who have been security vetted and cleared will be considered for licensing by March 31, 2020,” reads part of the statement.

For the vetting exercise, private security providers have been directed to submit their registration certificates, identification documents, KRA PINs and certificates of good conduct for each of their director, partner, trustee and shareholder.

They are also required to submit documents showing three years audited accounts of the firm, certified shareholders certificate (CR12), immigration status and a valid work permit for expatriates.

The firms have also been instructed to submit passport size photos and physical address, email address and phone number of every director, partner, trustee and shareholder.
