Chief Government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor has been offered a fully-funded invitation to visit Salt Lick Safari Lodge in Tsavo, in recognition of his ongoing contributions in local pathology works.

Former Kenya Tourism Federation Chairman Mohammed Hersi graciously extended the invitation to Oduor on Thursday, highlighting the good doctor's dedication in his pathology pursuits.

"This man is selfless He is not in this for the money. The late (Rita) Waeni's case has really traumatized him and he deserves a break with his better half. If you known to him he has a weekend at Salt Lick Safari Lodge to relax and unwind,"  said Hersi on his X account.

"Dr. Oduor you deserve it. Will pick you from the train at Madaraka Express station at Voi and you get to experience the most photographed lodge in Kenya and its sister lodge Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa inside Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary all on Full board."

Oduor on Thursday handled the autopsy of murdered Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology student Rita Waeni whose severed head and dismembered body was found dumped in Kiambaa and Roysambu respectively.

Addressing journalists after the procedure, Oduor noted that the autopsy indicated that the deceased died of strangulation before she was brutally dismembered by her killer.

"The head had been chopped off on the neck at the level of the C5 vertebrae. There was bruising on the scalp which to me looked like it was caused by a blunt object and then upon looking at the neck's structure we also saw fractures which are usually very important in homicide," said Dr. Oduor.

"The hyoid bone was fractured while the thyroid cartilage had some fractures and hemorrhage. From this I can conclude that what caused the death of the young lady was strangulation after which she was decapitated and the body dumped."

While conducting the initial autopsy of Waeni's dismembered body last week, Oduor expressed shock over her horrific killing saying he had never encountered such a case during his long stint as a pathologist.
