The Government of Kenya has disbursed Ksh.192 billion to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions with the aim of creating a conducive environment for enhanced learning and skill development across the country.
The cash injection, Education Principal Secretary (PS) Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria says, will be directed towards providing crucial support for tuition, training materials, utilities and co-curricular activities across the institutions.
"With the focus being on enhancing accessibility and elevating the quality and relevance of TVET, the funds will be channeled into various initiatives. These include providing financial assistance to individual trainees, a move designed to empower aspiring professionals in various fields," said the PS in a statement to newsrooms on Wednesday.
"The Government's unwavering commitment to delivering employable skills through TVET underscores its dedication to supporting key economic sectors. This strategic investment aligns with broader goals such as reducing youth unemployment and driving sustainable economic growth."
She added that the cash injection guarantees that existing TVET students have abundant opportunities for success both within and beyond the institution.
