The Ministry of Education has released Ksh.22.02 billion as capitation funds for Term 2 to support learners in all public basic education institutions across the country.

According to Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, the substantial funding has been apportioned across various levels of basic education.

The capitation is allocated across different levels of education, including Free Primary Education Sh. 1.37 billion, Free Day Junior School Education Ksh. 8.9 billion, Free Day Junior School (Special Needs Education) Ksh. 118, 417, 921.35 and Free Day Secondary Education Ksh. 11.6 billion.

The ministry noted that the release of the capitation funds is intended to facilitate the seamless conduct of school activities in the term.

In the statement, the government reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its constitutional duty to learners and by ensuring every child gets free and compulsory basic education.

"School heads and principals are directed to ensure prudent use of these public resources entrusted to their care for the benefit of learners, and to desist from imposing any unauthorised levies," the statement read.

CS Ogamba emphasized that the Ministry will take a firm stance against any misuse of the allocated resources.

"As a Ministry, we will deal firmly with any verified cases of misappropriation of resources and the imposition of unauthorized levies," stated the CS.
