Heavy rains sweep classes in Alego Usonga

Heavy rains experienced on Saturday, March 17 evening in Alego/Usonga sub-county have destroyed a primary school.

The over 150 pupils from Urim Primary School will be forced to do their studies under trees after their classrooms were destroyed by the heavy rain.

Head teacher, Joseph Muyoma, confirmed that two classrooms and a nursery were wrecked in the rainfalls, further cautioning that normal learning might be suspended should the heavy rains continue.

Muyoma appealed to the county government and local leaders to intervene by helping build up new classrooms.

The rains that had delayed pouring according to the weather forecasters, have already started being experienced in some parts of the country.

Drought has been on going in the country since last year December, with Garissa, Turkana, Baringo, Kwale among other counties, recording high rates of water shortage and death of livestock.
