Homa Bay Governor Awiti resumes duty with strict orders to CECs

Homa Bay County Governor Cyprian Awiti on Thursday returned to the county offices with a stern warning against his alleged lazy County Executive committee (CEC) members.

Awiti was away from the county for two months after he fell ill on June 27, shortly after distributing bursary cheques worth Ksh.100 million at Orero Boys High school in Rangwe Sub County.

Speaking on Thursday as he presided over a swearing-in ceremony of seven members of the newly-created Homa Bay County Municipality Board, Awiti fired a warning at county ministers who he accused of sleeping on the job.

The governor said lazy county executive committee members (CECs) were putting his legacy at risk.

“I have no room for lazy CEC members! You have to change your methods of service delivery from office to fieldwork so that your impact can be felt on the ground,” he said.

He said he would consider assessing county executives in terms of service delivery.
