Homa Bay Governor
Gladys Wanga has sent eight senior county officials on compulsory leave to
allow for investigations into allegations of irregular recruitment of staff.
This follows
multiple complaints by area residents purporting that the eight officials have,
in many instances, allegedly used their high-ranking positions to make irregular and
biased appointments in Homa Bay County Government.
The eight are:
Lameck Ogot (Director Recruitment & Selection), Boaz Nyagute (Ag.
Administrator CPSB), Linet Oguda (Secretary of the CEO CPSB), Charles Auma
(Director Human Resources Management), Solomon Ochogo (Ag. Payroll Manager),
Alfred Okumu (Ag. Director HR), Dancun Akecha (Human Resources Manager) and
Winfred Otieno Awuor (Director ECD, Department of Education and ICT).
"Given
Governor Gladys Wanga’s commitment to good governance, transparency and
accountability, devoid of corruption the County Government has sent the eight
officers on compulsory leave, to give room for audit and investigations of the
County Human Resources systems," Wanga's office said in a statement on
Thursday.
According to
Wanga's office, the eight officials will be barred from accessing the
county government premises and
records, department or
conducting businesses on behalf of the county during the auditing and
investigations period.
"The governor has urged residents to support her reform initiatives to get the County back on track, in order to achieve the desired level of service delivery to the people of Homa Bay. She stated that going forward, there will be no cadre of county jobs available for sale," reads the statement.
