Deputy
President William Ruto’s wife Rachel Ruto has now revealed that she allegedly
prayed for the impure borehole water at their Karen residence and it turned
clean.
This,
she said, happened after they had been plagued with water issues for a long
time and tried all manner of means to solve it, to no success.
She
narrated how DP Ruto was at one time even forced to spend a lot of money on a
purification machine, but which eventually also amounted to naught.
According
to Mama Rachel, the Lord then reminded her of the story in the Bible of Elisha and
the people of Jericho in 2 Kings 2:19-22.
Elisha,
as written in the Bible verse, was approached by the townspeople who decried
the bad water that they said was making their land unproductive.
He
then asked for a bowl, put some salt in it and said: “This is what the Lord says: ‘I have
healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land
unproductive.’” And the water became clear as day.
Mama
Rachel said: “When the Lord spoke to me about this verse and this story of
Jericho in 2018, I remembered about our water here in Karen. I know there are
many people who live in Karen; and, at least for us, where we live we drilled a
borehole in 2003, and when the water was taken to be checked by the labs, they
told us that we could not drink that water as it was until it was purified.”
“So
my husband, the Deputy President, went into a venture and bought very expensive
purifying machines. And that is what we have been doing, purifying the water
all the time before drinking or using it. And we kept changing the filters and
that kind of thing. But the Lord kept reminding me about this word and what
Elisha did. And I wondered, suppose I go pray for this water, is it possible
for it to be purified?”
She
added: “Recently, the purifying machines got a lot of problems, and I remember
we spent a lot of money to buy and I had called my team from Eldoret to come
and do it for us. And just after one week, again the water was not clean. And
our boy at the residence was getting very frustrated.”
Mama
Rachel narrated how she initially felt doubtful of the act and her capabilities,
and how often she told herself that maybe she couldn’t do it so she should call
a preacher or a prophet instead.
She
however convinced herself to just try and so, on a random Wednesday after a
meeting, she went for it.
“The
other Wednesday, I went to the office for a meeting then I went for prayers
then I thought let me go to the residence and see what is happening. When I got
there, the Lord reminded me about that water. You know what I did? I went to
the kitchen, took a bowl, put salt and went to the borehole and I decreed the
words of Elisha. I went and said ‘this water will never be dirty again!’ And I
sprayed the water around the borehole.”
“On
Friday I went to the residence and noticed the water was looking different. So
I waited for the guests to leave and then I called the boy, I was like; ‘Shadrack,
what happened to the water?’ He told me “Mum, I don’t know what happened to the
water, the water is now clean. I’m not even taking the water through the purification
machine, I’m just pumping it from the borehole to the tank.” And we started
giving God thanks.”
