Huduma namba key to fighting graft in Gov’t, says Matiang’i

Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i on Friday urged Kenyans to shun the propaganda and politics surrounding the Huduma namba process saying it was aimed at curbing corruption.

The CS was speaking in Kisumu County where he is touring to sensitise Kenyans on the importance of the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) process. He also asked the residents not to fall prey to the myths and untruths linked to the process.

Tuambiane tu ukweli, watu wetu wanateseka, unammbiwa file imepotea, nunulia mtu mwingine chai ili file itafutwe, tunataka hio mambo iishe,” he said. (Let us be honest, Kenyans are suffering, when seeking services at a government facility you are told your file has disappeared and told to bribe someone for you to be assisted, we want that to end.)

Matiang’i also said that as per President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive, registration centers will be opened at 6AM to allow for everyone to register and make it convenient for citizens to register and still make it to work saying that as on Friday morning, over 5 million Kenyans had registered.

The CS said that the project is not a sole government initiative but rather one that Kenyans should adapt to ensure the betterment of service delivery.
