Hundreds of residents in Chianda, Siaya County, have benefited from a free medical camp organised by the Ministry of Health, aimed at bringing essential healthcare services closer to the community as part of the Government’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.

The outreach initiative provided a wide range of services including general consultations, dental and eye check-ups, cancer and sexually transmitted infection (STI) screenings, laboratory tests, and mental wellness support.

In addition, Huduma Kenya representatives were on-site to assist residents with various government service activations.

Speaking during the event, the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, encouraged locals to take advantage of such opportunities to improve their health and wellbeing.

He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all Kenyans.

“Universal Health Coverage is about bringing health services to the people. No one should be left behind, regardless of where they live,” said Dr. Oluga.

The Chianda medical camp is part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Health to promote preventive care and strengthen community health systems through outreach programs across the country.
