I do not regret leaving ODM – Ababu Namwamba

Budalangi Member of Parliament, Ababu Namwamba, now says that he does not regret jumping ship to the recently re-branded Labour Party of Kenya (LPK).

Ababu, speaking on Thursday, October 6, exuded confidence in maintaining his grip in the Western Kenya politics, discounting rumors of his alleged political suicide.

“We shall end this game of being our own worst enemies,” he said.

“My challenge to our community is let us be people who mean what we say and say what we mean.”

The LPK leader left the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in July, months after resigning as the ODM’s Secretary General after falling out with the opposition leader, Raila Odinga.

Namwamba was unveiled on September 22 during the LPK’s re-launch at the Karen’s Mamba Village in Nairobi.

Upon taking over, Namwamba said it took him time to settle on a party and when time came, LPK was more than a political home for him.

He thanked the members of the Prof Julia Ojiambo-chaired party for welcoming him in the party that has been in existence for the last 18 years despite being politically inactive.

Namwamba also seized the opportunity to criticize Odinga terming him as undemocratic and a person who cannot accommodate different views.

After his resignation , Namwamba accused his party of giving him a raw deal by making him a ‘powerless’ Secretary General.
