Amina Mohamed, the deputy secretary general, has full faith in and respect for President William Ruto's leadership, according to the United Nations Information Centre in Nairobi.

The UN information center appeared to respond to an alleged cache of leaked documents on Sunday, alleging  that  the UN high-up had misgivings about Kenyan leadership.

The distortion and out-of-context reporting of Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed's private conversations, according to Stephane Dujarric, the Secretary-General's spokesperson, "does not in any way reflect her views and opinions,"

"The Deputy Secretary-General has full confidence and respect for the leadership of President William Ruto," the statement  reads.

The statement also revealed that Mohamed would be making a previously postponed trip to Kenya.

The UN Secretary General will meet with President Ruto and the local UN officials while in Kenya.

"Kenya has been through the decades and continues to be a very generous host to UN institutions and a very important contributor to the international agenda," the spokesperson  added.

The alleged reports stemmed from a trove of documents leaked on the social platform Discord, which purported to show the deputy secretary general having reservations about President Ruto.

Part of the leaked documents appear to describe a candid conversation between Mr Guterres and his deputy, Amina Mohammed, about the recently concluded African leaders' summit.

The document quotes Amina Mohammed as saying that Kenya's president, William Ruto, is "ruthless" and that she "doesn't trust him."
