In a recent interview with NTV Ichung’wah argued; ‘‘Sons who have never borrowed a loan of even Ksh. 600 thousand all of a sudden because you are sons of the Deputy President can access loans of Ksh. 600 million?’’
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's sons, Keith Ikinu and Kevin Rigathi, have been implicated in corruption allegations tied to an ongoing impeachment motion against him.
The accusations claim that Gachagua used his family to amass Ksh 5.7 billion through fraudulent business deals.
Gachagua has publicly denied the accusations, arguing that his sons have legitimate private careers.
Keith is a medical doctor, while Kevin works as a software engineer. Both have been drawn into the controversy despite their professional achievements, with former Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) boss Andrew Mulwa alleging they acted as proxies in a mosquito net deal.
Gachagua insists the claims are politically motivated and that his wealth predates his time in office and politicians should stop dragging his family into political matters.
Nonetheless, the family's financial dealings remain under scrutiny as the impeachment motion unfolds.
