VIDEO: Inside Jimi Wanjigi’s exquisite mansion in Muthaiga
The siege laid by police at Jimi Wanjigi’s home in Muthaiga, Nairobi, provided a rare opportunity for the public to get a glimpse into the life of the mysterious 55-year old billionaire businessman.
After a 72-hour siege at his doorstep, Wanjigi on Wednesday morning finally stepped out of the shadows, giving many who had only heard of him the chance to put a face to the name.
Wearing the mantle of power while giving every impression of a committed family man, the tycoon emerged for a press address flanked by his wife Irene Nzisa and his ageing parents at their home, where the couple claims several deals vital to the future of the country have been cut. It was at Wanjigi’s palatial home that the UhuRuto Jubilee government was allegedly formed.
The massive house presents an imposing front with at least two chandeliers hanging in the foyer, alongside family photos.
A fleet of at least five high-end cars wait in the parking lot of the palatial house which has tinted windows, and a manicured lawn that doubles as a helipad.
Also in the highly-guarded compound is a Thai-style lounge where Wanjigi is reported to retreat to relax. Security cameras are strategically placed in every corner, watching over every inch of the grounds.
The residence also has a basketball court among many other amenities. It is a home that doubles as a fortress, where police officers who searched for hours could not find Wanjigi, his whereabouts during the search anyone’s guess.
After the addressing the press, the family retreated behind the massive doors of the lavish home owned by a man known to friends as James bond, a ruthless businessman who has through the years made enough money to finance a lavish lifestyle.
While the recent unfolding may have forced Wanjigi to step out of the cloud of mystery that surrounds him, questions abound as to whether, when the storm blows over, he will be able to quietly retreat into the shadows yet again.
