IG Boinnet orders for arrest of Mugo Wa Wairimu

The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has ordered the immediate arrest of ‘rogue’ gynaecologist Mugo Wa Wairimu following rape allegations against him captured on camera.

Boinnet weighed on the ongoing debate on social media and ordered for a forensic investigations into the incident.

He also called on victims who have fallen prey to the criminal act to come forward and record statements at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.

The expose which ran on Sunday night elicited a public outcry with Kenyans calling for the arrest of Mugo over the rape allegations.

In the film, Mugo is seen raping a sedated woman who had reportedly visited his clinic for medical attention.

Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB) has, however, come out strongly to discredit Mugo’s clinical operations saying he is neither registered with the board as a doctor nor a gynaecologist.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Power Breakfast show, the board’s CEO Daniel Yumbya called for the arrest and prosecution of Mugo for operating a clinic without licence and the heinous act.

Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has vowed to take action against a Mugo wa Wairimu for the allegations.
