IG Mutyambai discharged from hospital

IG Mutyambai was reportedly discharged from hospital on Thursday, where he had been admitted after collapsing at his home in Karen, Nairobi.

Before his discharge, Deputy Inspector General of police Noor Gabow, who has been acting in his capacity paid him a visit in hospital. 

"The two had a hearty conversation on various issues. The entire National Police Service fraternity takes this opportunity to wish the IG speedy and full recovery," the police service said on August 29. 

Mutyambai announced his break from official duties to attend to personal health matters on August 26, saying he was set to undergo a medical checkup during the unspecified period of the hiatus.

In his absence Deputy Inspector General - Administration Police Service, Noor Gabow, took over the reins as acting IG.

Gabow took over at a time when the country is in transition with the Supreme Court's verdict on the contested August 9th Presidential election expected Monday.
