Roots Party of Kenya, led by Prof. George Wajackoyah has appointed new party officials to its secretariat.

Through a gazette notice on Wednesday, Yagnick Vinod Ramji was named as the party's Deputy Party Leader after a resolution meeting by the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) at the party headquarters in Karen.

The George Wajackoyah-led team also appointed Naran Velji Arjan as CEO and Janet Akinyi Odhiambo as Deputy National Chairperson.

The appointments come amid a fallout between Wajackoyah and his deputy presidential candidate Justina Wamae on grounds that she was misrepresenting the party.

Responding to the changes, Justina told Citizen Digital that she was not privy to any upcoming adjustments, adding that they had started compelling her to resign.

"I knew what they were doing was to frustrate me so that I can resign. It is good that they have done what they said they will do and I'm still waiting for a dismissal letter," she said.

She alluded to an August 26 meeting, where she was summoned for a disciplinary hearing, alleging that Wajackoyah had sent emissaries to convince her to vacate her position from the party, something she scorned at saying she would only leave if she is dismissed.

Justina however did not disclose if Ramji acts as her replacement, stating that her role as the deputy party leader was not definite in the party.

"There is so much, you know by being running mate it translates to being the deputy party leader but I need to check my letter, but the beauty is they have implemented what they wanted to do."
