Kindiki who spoke in Lagdera Constituency, during the operationalization of Shanta Abaq Sub-County and installation of Kennedy Lwanyi as the first deputy county commissioner, acknowledged the success in the war against terror, citing the adoption and use of intelligence-led security operations to combat the vice.
“For us to succeed in the war against terror and extremism, our security officers must work closely with local communities. Tusiumize wananchi, tufanye kazi nao ili tuweze kuwasaka na kuwakimbiza magaidi. Hao ndio maadui wetu. Hakuna uadui kati ya serikali na wananchi au jamii yoyote. Adui wa serikali na wananchi ni magaidi na wahalifu wengine. Mhalifu hana kabila,” he said.
“We have prioritised Intelligence-led security operations to deal with terrorism. I appreciate the effort of our security officers, who are working in difficult and risky areas. Some have even lost their lives as they fought terrorists.”
Prof Kindiki expressed the government’s commitment to equip security officers with the relevant equipment needed to combat terror groups.
“The Government is modernising security equipment, including personal protective gear, to help our officers execute their mandate better and win this war against terrorism and violent extremism,” Kindiki noted.
At the same time, the CS also announced that the long-awaited reopening of the immigration department offices in Garissa and resumption of insurance of passports, national identity cards and other citizenship documents will commence after the Ramadhan activities and will be presided over by President William Ruto, alongside unveiling of new measures to ease the processing of the sensitive security documents.
