In a statement on his Twitter account Kindiki, who is among the 24 Cabinet nominees whose nominations were approved by Parliament said: "Grateful to the National Assembly for finding me and other Nominees of His Excellency the President suitable to serve the people of Kenya in the Cabinet."
At the same time, Kindiki praised the House for overturning the rejection of Tourism CS nominee Penina Malonza and clearing her for appointment, saying her achievements outway the hiccups she experienced during her vetting by the Committee on Appointments.
"It would have been absurd to drop a CS Nominee on account of performance in a one-hour interview, ignoring one's lifelong achievements," said Prof. Kindiki.
During vetting, Prof. Kindiki promised among other measures to introduce a wellness unit targeting the mental welfare of officers within the service.
If appointed, Kindiki added, he will effect his intention through the soon-to-be-completed National Police Service and Kenya Prisons Service hospitals.
"I believe the issues around mental issues in the police service are linked to work-related stress. I intend to equip, expand and fully capitalize the wellness and counseling unit which I intend to link with the soon-to-be-established NPS hospital and the Kenya Prisons Service hospital," he said.
