Internal wrangles will lead to loss, Uhuru to Jubilee aspirants

President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged members of Jubilee Party, who have expressed interest to run for elective posts in August 8, 2017 General Election to unite so that they can defeat the competition.

Speaking at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, Nairobi on Friday, January 13 during Jubilee delegates meeting, Kenyatta told sitting and aspiring Jubilee leaders that there is no benefit of internal wrangles, warning them of impending loss to opposition if they continue to differ among themselves on who would be the party’s flag-bearer for respective elective seats.

“There are people (in this party) who are fighting so bitterly! Let me ask you, when you wrangle among yourselves and eventually lose to our competition, then what would you have benefited? It is unity that shall ensure our Jubilee agenda continues,” said the President.

The President’s remarks come in the wake of continued differences, especially among Nairobi gubernatorial aspirants, who have all stood strong in their quest to be the flag-bearers of Jubilee Party in August, 2017.

Currently, members of the Jubilee team, who have expressed interest to unseat incumbent Evans Kidero include Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, Dagoreti South legislator Dennis Waweru and nominated MP Johnson Sakaja.

The four gubernatorial seat aspirants, who were all present at the delegates meeting, sat together in a gesture which got approval by attendees.

Another geographical area, considered a Jubilee Party stronghold, where power play has been witnessed of late is Kiambu County, where Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu has expressed interest to unseat incumbent, William Kabogo.

President Kenyatta urged the aspirants who would not succeed in winning Jubilee Party ticket to pull together and rally behind the Jubilee Party nominee for elective seat.
