Interswitch Group commissions 2nd edition of schools science competition

Secondary school students across the country can now register for the second edition of the annual Science and Mathematics contest by Interswitch Group (Kenya).

The technology driven company on Monday officially commissioned the InterswitchSPAK portal for students to register for the competition.

The winner of the competition will receive a scholarship worth Ksh.1.5 million, a laptop, signage for their school while the 1st and 2nd runners up will get Ksh.750,000 and Ksh.150,000 respectively and a laptop each.

The students must be aged between 15 and 18 years of age at the time of submission.

This year InterswitchSPAK seeks to register 12,000 students across the country in the first six weeks after which a national qualifying contest will be held online.

The top 54 students will proceed to the second stage of the competition to battle for the crown of Kenya’s Best Science Student.

For registration, each school is required to present its best science students in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects.

Every registered student will participate in the qualifying examination online, from their schools, homes or any convenient space.

Schools will register their best students via www.interswitchspak.com.

The registration portal will close on Thursday, June 24th, 2021.

InterswitchSPAK Kenya Country Manager, Romana Rajput, expressed her excitement about the second edition of the competition, saying the one-year hiatus had been occasioned by the disruptive impact of the global coronavirus pandemic.

Winners of season one of the competition was Jemimah Achieng from Asumbi Girls High School, Homa Bay, followed by Nobert Pkiach from Maranda High school and position 3 had Ashley Mudenyo from Alliance Girls High School.
