Speaking on Citizen TV’s JKLive Show on Wednesday, a seemingly unbothered Kuria remained adamant on the push by the lawmakers to have him ousted, insisting that he has the right to express his opinion.
CS Kuria, who has maintained his disapproval of Kawira's impeachment, maintained that Senators were being misled by external forces in the ongoing impeachment case against Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
“I am 52 years old out of which I have been only a minister for one year. It is not a big deal. I don’t want to engage in that kind of a thing; I am a busy person…I am busy every day working for this nation. Well, it is what it is,” Kuria told show host Jeff Koinange in response to the calls for his sacking.
“I have the right to express my opinion about something. I told them clearly, in my opinion, the crowds that were advanced were not in the threshold that would call for some impeachment” he added.
Kuria who restated his past utterances in defence of Governor Mwangaza said his comments on X, formerly Twitter, were his personal opinion adding that he does not support Kawira’s ousting.
Asked why he listed the names of 13 Senators on his X account told the "STOP IT" in regard to Governor Mwangaza's impeachment he said:
“My opinion is that they were being misled…I appeal to the 13 of them, what is wrong with a petition. Was I forcing them? No, I was petitioning…”
Thirteen Senators on Wednesday called for Kuria’s sacking after the controversial CS took to X on Tuesday night to call them out over the ongoing impeachment hearing against Mwangaza, saying that they were being misled by external forces.
The thirteen include Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), Hillary Sigei (Bomet), Alex Mundigi (Embu), Samson Cherargei (Nandi) and Seki Lenku Ole Kanar (Kajiado).
Others are Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo), Abdul Haji (Garissa), Kamau Murango (Kirinyaga), Wahome Wamatinga (Nyeri), Kathuri Murungi (Meru), Enoch Wambua (Kitui) and Otieno Kajwan’g (Homabay).
