The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport's (JKIA) runway was temporarily closed on Monday after a cargo plane's attempted takeoff was aborted due to technical difficulties.
The incident forced a temporary suspension of all incoming and outgoing flights, according to a statement by the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA).
"Our top priority is the safety of all passengers and we are working closely with the relevant authorities to resolve this situation as quickly and safely as possible," KAA said in a statement on Monday morning.
"We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding during this time,"
In light of the latest developments, KAA advised travellers to get in touch with their individual airlines for more details on the status of their flights.
