Jospeh Kinyua, the outgoing Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, has officially handed over power to his successor Felix Koskei.

Kinyua handed over the mantle to Koskei as the first order of business during the Cabinet Secretaries swearing-in ceremony at State House on Thursday, allowing him to steer the day's agenda.

Incoming Chief of Staff Kosgei took oath of office administered by Mr. Kinyua who then took the lectern to give a brief farewell speech.

Kinyua addressed the convocation, which was presided over by President William Ruto, and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Kenya's top civil servant.

Kinyua had held the position since Mwai Kibaki was president, and he had served in several administrations.

"I then hand over the mantle of coordinating the Public Service to a new generation of Civil Servants," he said.

"I thank you and your predecessors for according me privilege to serve in four successful administrations and in yours as well. It has been a profound honor and humbling journey. I'm immensely grateful to be accorded the rare opportunity to serve Kenyan and the great men chosen to be President."

He then left the podium, handing over the microphone to Koskei to preside over the ceremony.

Koskei was appointed to the position as a member of President Ruto's Executive Office on October 14, 2022.
