JSC promotes 117 judicial officers

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has approved the
promotion of 117 judicial officers following a series of interviews conducted
between August 4 and 13, 2025.
In a statement by the Commission's Secretary Winfridah Mokaya,
the promotions, ratified during meetings held on Thursday, September 11, and
Monday, September 15, took effect immediately.
The JSC said the milestone reaffirms its commitment to
strengthening judicial capacity by expanding the officers required to handle
judicial matters.
The move also aimed at enhancing access to justice through
efficiency in service delivery while rewarding high-performing officers.
Among those promoted, nine officers rose to the position of
Chief Magistrate. They include Kimilu Esther Kalunde, Rotich Paul Kipkosgei,
Macharia James Muriuki, Wambilyanga Joane Namrome, Kituku Justus Mulei, Ireri
Benson Nyaga, Ooko Peter Oduor, Magori Jared Ogoti and Kayila Dolphina Atieno
Alego.
A further 67 judicial officers were elevated to the rank of
Senior Principal Magistrate, while six were promoted to Principal
Magistrate.
Some of these include Masiga James, Lewa Lilian, Kesse
Cheronoh, Agonda Adhiambo, Opande Aswani, Ondieki Nchore and Onjoro
Khachuenu.
In addition, 15 officers were promoted to the position of Senior
Principal Kadhi and 20 others to Principal Kadhi.
The JSC lauded the officers, noting that the promotions
reflected not only individual excellence but also the Commission’s broader goal
of improving service delivery.
“These advancements reflect the Commission's unwavering
commitment to strengthening the rule of law, improving access to justice and
service, with integrity and excellence while being accountable to the people of
Kenya,” the statement read in part.
