Kakamega: Three people seriously injured after 3 vehicles involved in accident
Three people are nursing serious injuries at
Webuye sub-county hospital in Kakamega County after they were involved in a
road crash at the Kaburengu interchange on the Eldoret –Webuye highway.
The accident occurred at around mid-day on
Wednesday and is said to have involved three vehicles; a lorry, matatu, and a
canter.
Confirming the incident, the inspector in
charge of the Northern Corridor Joashua Nyasimi said the truck which was
heading to Uganda rammed the matatu, resulting in the crash.
According to Mr. Nyasimi, the brakes of the
lorry which was carrying construction materials failed at Chimoi.
The driver thereafter lost control at
Kaburengu, ramming the matatu as it was slowing down at nearby bumps.
He hence urged motorists to drive slowly
during the rainy season since the area is a known black spot, further advising
them to constantly check their brakes before beginning their journeys.
At the same time, area residents blamed the
county government for failing to erect a matatu terminal for vehicles, which
they say has led to weekly accidents claiming many innocent lives on the road.
