Kalonzo Musyoka gets nod for post-election pact with Jubilee

Wiper’s National Executive Council has authorised Kalonzo Musyoka to immediately seal a post-election pact with the ruling Jubilee party.

The NEC said once the Cooperation Agreement is sealed, it will be signed by the Party Chairman Chirau Ali Mwakwere and Secretary-General Judith Sijeny.

“The resolution was reached during a virtual meeting held via Zoom, with more than 50 NEC members unanimously backing an immediate implementation of the Cooperation Agreement,” the council said in a statement.

At the same time, NEC resolved that a National Delegates Conference be called in the near future to endorse the formation of a coalition between the WDMK, Jubilee and KANU.

However, in the meantime, Wiper Party resolved that it still remains a member of the National Super Alliance (NASA).

“This Cooperation Agreement does not breach our agreements under the NASA Coalition,” Musyoka told the NEC members.

Meanwhile, a Special Sitting to debate the motion for the removal of Kithure Kindiki as Deputy Speaker is underway at the Senate.

Jubilee is seeking his ouster after he skipped a Parliamentary Group meeting at State House that was called by President Uhuru Kenyatta, the party leader.

Some Senators however claim that none of them received any official invitation to the meeting.

The agenda of the meeting was to remove Susan Kihika and Kipchumba Murkomen as Minority Whip and Majority Leader respectively.

The two leaders allied to DP William Ruto have since accused the Jubilee leadership of trying to create factions within the ruling party by making illegal changes.

Others have termed it as archaic politics of ‘blackmail and intimidation.”

“Intimidating leaders will go nowhere in fact it is on the reverse. The more you intimidate these leaders the more solidified the ground becomes. And even those of us they want to take to court on trumped up charges or whatever reason they will just make us more popular and more solid..We are ready. In every struggle there must be a sacrifice,” said Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua.
