Kalonzo new Azimio coalition party leader, Junet Mohamed removed in fresh changes

Several months after the passing on of Raila Odinga, the
Azimio La Umoja coalition party held its first meeting where it resolved to
effect key changes in its leadership structure.
The meeting resolved to have
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka replace the late Odinga as the
Azimio party leader.
Suba North lawmaker Caroli Omondi is the new Azimio Secretary
General, with veteran politician Philip Kisia taking up the role of Executive
Director.
In effect, apart from replacing
Odinga, his ally Junet Mohamed who was the Secretary General, has been shown
the door as well as then Executive Director Raphael Tuju.
The resolutions were quickly
communicated to the Registrar of Political Parties John Loronokou.
The Azimio council submitting to
the Registrar a notice dated January 29, 2026 convening the meeting, minutes of
the meeting held on February 2, 2026 and the resolutions of the meeting
including change of officials.
A letter dated February 2, 2026 addressed
to Junet Mohamed on his removal, a statutory form PP7 on the change of
officials as well as an attendees list of the meeting were also submitted to
the Registrar.
The Azimio council meeting also
resolved to open doors for new political parties to join the coalition as it
prepares for the 2027 General Election.
