Kapsabet boda boda riders launch safety campaign

Kapsabet town boda boda operators have launched a campaign to sensitize motorbike riders on the importance of wearing reflector jackets in a bid to minimize accidents, especially at night.

Speaking during the launch of the safety campaign dubbed Vaa Reflector; Okoa Maisha, the organizers of the event  expressed concern at the high number of accidents that occur during the night, which they said could be prevented if the riders and their passengers wore reflectors.

The pioneer of the initiative, Meshak Kimutai, has challenged the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) and county governments to put in place elaborate policies that address safety among the riders.

The riders have appealed to the county government to subsidize the costs of buying reflectors to enable most of them acquire the jackets.

The launch was marked with a boda boda procession along the streets of Kapsabet Town.
