Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi back in court

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi is set to appear in court this morning for the mention of a case where he is accused of hate speech and incitement.

The legislator was released on a Ksh.500,000 cash bail last Friday after successfully appealing a decision by the lower court in Nakuru to detain him for seven more days.

According to lawyer Isaac Terer, one of the lead counsel’s for Oscar Sudi, they expect the legislator to take plea to the charges preferred against him.

“Today we are coming up for mention to confirm if the prosecution have completed their investigations and whether they are ready to prefer charges against Oscar Sudi to which he will answer after which we will make an application he be admitted to bond pending his trial,” said Terer on Wednesday morning.

The MP is facing charges of hate speech, offensive conduct, resisting arrest, being in unlawful possession of a firearm and assault of a police officer.

The Kapseret MP was arrested for alleged offensive remarks he made against the person of President Uhuru Kenyatta and former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

Before his arrest, the outspoken controversial legislator insisted he had insulted no one and would not apologise.
