Police in Kayole are investigating a case in which an
11-year-old boy was tortured and murdered in Chokaa near Maua Primary in a
fenced compound.
The deceased, Fred Omondi, disappeared on June 4, 2025, and
his badly mutilated body was discovered on Wednesday morning with some body
parts missing.
A postmortem revealed Fred died from a serious assault and
strangulation, with bruises found all over the body. The left hand was missing,
while the head had three deep cuts, indicating a possible murder incident.
According to Njiru Sub-county Police Commander John Owuoth, who
confirmed the incident, there was a report of a missing person on June 4 at
Mihango Police Station, and the following day, the body was found, but with
some parts missing.
The doctor at Mama Lucy Hospital who conducted the
postmortem said the injuries on the body were artefacts or secondary, as the
body remained at the scene and had been fed on by scavengers, including dogs,
inside the compound.
However, this occurred after the boy had been assaulted and
strangled to death.
The family is yet to come to terms with the act, but urged
the police to leave no stone unturned in arresting whoever was involved in the
murder.
The father and mother narrated how they last saw their
11-year-old boy, who had come to visit them for a long holiday but was staying
with a relative in Kayole.
The owner of the premises and the family have already recorded
their statements at Kayole Police Station, awaiting action.
The deputy DCIO confirmed they visited the scene and
documented everything, but are now waiting for forensic details before making
arrests.
Owuoth said they are following very crucial leads to assist
the police in arresting the culprits.
“We received reports of the missing boy on June 4th, and the DCI took over the investigations. We know we will know what happened and who committed that heinous act. Until now, we don’t have any arrests, but we will get to the root of it,” said the police boss.
