Kayole: Two pupils killed, two injured after construction debris falls on school

Learners from the PP2 class were washing their hands when stones and other construction materials suddenly fell from a nearby plot under construction, striking four children.

Two pupils from Emmanuel New Life Learning Centre in Kayole have died, while two others are in critical condition, after construction debris from a neighbouring building site collapsed onto the school compound on Monday afternoon.

According to a police report seen by Citizen.Digital on Monday, the incident occurred around 12:45 p.m., during the students' lunch break. 

Learners from the PP2 class were washing their hands when stones and other construction materials suddenly fell from a nearby plot under construction, striking four children.

The injured pupils were rushed to Uwezo Clinic for emergency treatment before being referred to Mama Lucy Hospital.

 Two of the children were pronounced dead upon arrival, while two others were admitted in critical condition.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident and whether the construction site met required safety and regulatory standards.

Parents and residents of Kayole have expressed shock and outrage over the incident, demanding stricter enforcement of building and safety regulations near schools.
